Thank you for sharing this. I have suffered life long chronic depression, which manifests itself mostly in anhedonia.

Unfortunately, for the better part of two decades, after frustration with psychiatric medicine and the US healthcare system in general, I gave up and turned to alcohol. It was the only thing that seemed to zap my brain in to being interested in anything at all. In the long run it just made things worse and my liver was on the verge of packing its bags.

I have only recently come out on the other side of it. What you said between the difference between depression and despair, and delineating between the two makes a great deal of sense to me.

I really appreciate your honesty in this article and I pray that more folks who suffer from mental health problems will read it and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey brother, I have schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. I’ve been through all the treatment, 30+ meds, etc. a ketogenic diet got me into remission and gave me my life back. Please look into ketogenic therapy immediately. Lots of people healing schizophrenia and bipolar and coming off meds
